Company Overview
Summary
Works on a two-person team that is responsible for running product on a flexographic press. Press Assistant provides support to operator as needed. Responsible for ensuring all material is ready for press job. Assists press operator by preparing for upcoming orders and helping with duties as orders are running. Cleans up after changeovers and provides whatever assistance necessary to keep the presses operating smoothly by performing the following duties. Works 12 hour rotating shifts; shifts subject to change based on company need. This position serves as a feeder position to press operator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Knows and follows all safety policies and procedures.
+ Ensures that co-workers are also following safety rules.
+ Commitment, awareness and involvement pertaining to ISO (policy, standards, procedures, etc.) and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.) are requirements of all employees.
+ Prepares for upcoming orders by getting raw materials in place, including base paper or film, inks, and cores. Has Aniloxes and cylinders geared. Gathers information from spec sheet.
+ Packages / wraps finished rolls.
+ Knows how to operate the core cutter and cuts cores to proper length for upcoming jobs.
+ Takes trim / waste to baler / compactor.
+ Monitors viscosities and pH.
+ Monitors quality and production while product is running.
+ Completes ink usage, viscosity, and pH forms.
+ Knows where to find ink on specification sheet and how to dispense ink.
+ Returns plates and cylinders to plate mounting after they've been cleaned.
+ Uses forklift / clamp trucks to transport product.
+ Operate anilox cleaner and parts washer for cleaning anilox rolls.
+ Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with co workers, customers, and suppliers.
+ Ability to fill-in on Press Operator job when necessary.
+ Consistently at work and on time.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and / or Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American lineal and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook internet software and Shop Floor Manufacturing software.
